Topic > A Successful Educator - 788

The primary goal of an educator is to provide a student with the tools needed to achieve lifelong goals as an adult. Specifically, each teacher has the responsibility to provide the student with the knowledge and skills that will contribute to the achievement of his or her cumulative educational objectives. Too often, students do not come to school with an unconditional love of learning. Educators, therefore, have the unfortunate task of educating, motivating and training the often disinterested young person. Often, the best teachers are the ones who find ways to connect with their students. Therefore, they find ways to encourage connections to students' short- and long-term goals. Many times, students do not find it easy to identify goals. Younger students' goals are often geared towards pleasing parents or their teachers, however, as students grow and mature, their motivations change. Many students in later grades find it much more important to please their peers. Educators must understand that preteens and younger teens must find a reason to learn and excel in each subject area. The best educators help students create valuable connections that motivate them to personalize their motivation to successfully participate in their own learning. Older teens are often motivated by collegiate goals. Some students, however, those who may be lower achieving or non-traditional learners, may require educators to find non-traditional methods to motivate and/or help students identify long- and short-term goals. Finally, the best teachers are attentive to the learning styles and individual needs of their students. Teachers' responsibilities are not limited to student instruction; educators are also responsible for their well-being for a good…… middle of paper……art. Yes, instructors must be competent in their subject matter but, more importantly, they must be able to deliver information in a style that meets the individual needs of their students. The teacher observes his environment (i.e. his students) and paints the topic in such a way that his students appreciate the presented topic, just like a work of art. Finally, a successful educator's passions are not limited to their subject matter, but also to their students. Educating young people requires a passionate, patient, empathetic and energetic person. Teachers are educators, coaches and cheerleaders. They have an undying love for their subjects and students. In conclusion, it is the educator who exudes these qualities who will help the youth of our country achieve their goals and become the leaders of the future.
