Unlike tattoos and other forms of body art, body painting is temporary, painted on human skin, and lasts only a few hours. Body painting originates from the tradition of primitive tribes. “In many cases the painting was used only to decorate the bodies, but generally it was used to express pain, it was a sign of a special tribe or a sign to distinguish tribes.” (Hamed) They also used it to scare away ghost-like enemies. in religious dances. (History) Today, body painting has spread throughout the world and is a rapidly growing art form. ! There are different forms of body painting and they vary around the world in different cultures. Indigenous body painting is done with clay and other natural pigments and is performed by tribalist cultures. It is often worn during ceremonies and originates from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Island and Africa.
