Stamps tell children's favorite stories Many of the 2010 stamps can bring back childhood memories of reading and being read to. Most of these stamps are part of the annual Europa series, which in 2010 features the common theme of children's books. An exception is the Israeli souvenir sheet issued on April 14 to commemorate the World Stamp Exhibition in London. The three stamps in the sheet reproduce the illustrations of three children's classics by British writers: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Peter Pan by JB Barrie and Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. Danny Kerman, who also illustrates children's books, designed the stamps. Alice in Wonderland is also included in a set of four released on February 9th by Jersey. Another stamp in the set glows in the dark. This stamp aptly illustrates The Bright-Nosed Dong, a poem by Edward Lear. The Jersey Post explains: "During the stamp's printing process, French printer Cartor Security applied luminous ink to the end of the Dong's nose so that after the stamp is held up to a light it really shines in the dark."
