Ghana Irfan Irfan 1NewnhamEAD 204Empathy is a really important aspect in a child's life, as it helps them understand their emotions, increases prosocial behavior and helps children aged preschoolers understand the emotions of others as they interact with their peers. Facial expressions are another part of a child's understanding of what is happening with another person's emotions. Encouragement for the child during the preschool years is essential so that he can learn and regulate certain behaviors. However, during the preschool years children are able to communicate a limited amount of emotions they feel through the help of teachers and by interacting with their peers (Prosocial Behavior, 2002). As the child grows, they will interact more with peers, which will lead them to understand their own interests and abilities. They are able to communicate their likes and dislikes during the preschool stage. During the early years many theorists had suggested that young children were too self-centered and could not understand or feel empathy (Bierhoff, 2002). However, recent studies have clearly stated that young children are capable of showing many different types of behaviors, which show empathy towards others and motivate them to have prosocial behavior. However, it is difficult for preschoolers to communicate with empathy because they have a limited amount of language to use. A very common way to tell if a preschooler is showing empathy is to observe his or her reaction to another child's stress (Prosocial Behavior, 2002)..... middle of paper....... So this will help them to take right actions in Irfan 8 different situations. Furthermore, it is important for children to see all types of perspectives as this will help them understand how to behave and make the choices they would like to make. However, it is important that children have many different experiences in order to learn about themselves. Furthermore, the more children interact with their peers, the easier it will be for them to empathize with others. Encouragement should always be provided for children to learn more about themselves and others.
