The amount of change someone can endure in their life is crazy. One day you may be the most loved person in the universe, but you may also wake up and be one of the most hated. The change in which ambition turns Willie Starks in "All the King's Men" can be traced back to "The Great Gatsby." Gatsby is content and happy with his life until the day he glimpses his beloved Daisy, from that point on Gatsby had this sudden urge to wish he had Daisy. This desire of wanting Daisy hid the fact that this would never happen between them and ultimately ends up killing Gatsby. Although Willie does not change his appearance, the obstacles he encounters throughout the story shape and form his personality and transform him into the new Willie Stark. In the novel "All the King's Men" by Robert Penn Warren, the pain of loved ones can be blinded by the desire and ambition to be on top. In the movie "Rudy" Rudy dreams of a future as a member of the Fighting Irish Football team, but for a person who is not necessarily cut out to play football at the next level, but for Rudy who is so full of courage, commitment and desire, a dream it is always possible. “Yes, I have this I wish my father was watching one of his sons play football for the Irish and I was wondering if I could dress for a game next season.” “Rudy,” who wanted more than anything in the world to play football for Notre Dame. Unfortunately, Rudy was small, light and lacked raw skills for the game. If that wasn't enough, Rudy's family wasn't the best financially, nor were his grades, and he was put down by everyone from his teachers to his father. If ever there was a miracle, it was Rudy who needed it. Rudy's ambition and desire to reach... the middle of paper... that is, use his characters because they are useless. He portrays his characters as if there's no point in even living, as if they're just there to take up space. The difference between Anne Marie and Robert Penn Warren is that in Robert Penn Warren's “All the King's Men” they have a goal in life, they have something that keeps them going, something that skyrockets their hope and confidence to achieve it that they want. In Anne Marie's poems there are stories of depression, of how her characters behave. His poems are filled with the desperation of their useless lives. Which are completely opposite to the other topics. Therefore ambition and desire are both a want and a need, they bring peace and comfort but also invade our decision making to find the fastest way to reach our goal, which in fact can harm family, friends and if themselves without guilt.
