Tyler MaiFletcherELA Period 521 February 2014Housing the Homeless (Rough Draft)Homelessness around the world has increased. Many men, women and even children are homeless and sleeping on the streets. Citizens often feel sorry for these people and want to help them and place them in a community shelter so they can be safe, but they can't due to the lack of shelters nearby. Let's say you went to work one day and found out that the company you work for is closing. You have lost your job and are losing money and are forced to sell your house. You and your family live in an alley and are fetching food and money from strangers. You then hear about a community shelter, but it's seven miles away from your location. You want your family to go there and be safe, but it's such a long walk. This is why cities around the world should open more community shelters. This will help homeless people feel safe and secure that they will not have to struggle with weather conditions, lack of food or money, and the insecurity of living alone on the streets. Homelessness around the world is on the rise, especially in the United States. Drugs, alcohol and lack of work are the main causes of homelessness. Community shelters to help the homeless are located nearby, but as the number of homeless people is increasing, the amount of space in them is limited. Increasing the number of shelters, however, has its pros and cons. Building more shelters means the owner of the shelters has to pay taxes for the building to stay in business, but fortunately most community shelters are funded by the city or county. This means that the reception centers do not have to pay taxes because the municipality is already paying them. There is also a bad yes...... middle of paper ...... I'm back in the family. The homeless would only go to those who volunteer and have good living conditions. A homeless person living with landlords who smoke will be evicted from their home to another. Some people don't agree with Hawaii because of the health and state of homelessness. Homeowners caring for these less fortunate citizens may not have experienced the pain and hardship that they did, so there may be conflicts in homes that can cause injury to the homeowner, the homeless person, or both. This ethical problem is slowly growing every year and must be stopped. I propose a solution where cities should open more community shelters but outside of populated areas so there won't be as much conflict and this could help businesses flourish while still being a convenient destination for the homeless..
