I know that the modern foreign languages department at your school is well equipped and the fact that inspectors in the recent Ofsted inspection highlighted that German consistently achieves good results demonstrates that teaching and learning are very effective. Furthermore, I am extremely excited about the experiment in which the most able Year 9 pupils are prepared to take French/German GCSEs. I would very much like to be part of a successful school and department and am convinced that I can make a significant contribution to maintaining and raising the current high standards. Over the last two years I have gained insight into how to lead a department successfully and have made a notable contribution to the development and implementation of practices for the subject and whole school policy. Since last September I have been attending department heads meetings on behalf of my current department head. During these meetings I keep the dean and other department heads informed about current issues and plans of the MFL department and define the position of the MFL department when it comes to discussing issues that affect all departments. Furthermore, since last year I have been a member of the "School Improvement Group" where I have to evaluate current practice and make recommendations for improvements. For example, I undertook research into the success of implementing “Extended Learning Opportunities.” I took a survey in eighth and tenth grade, analyzed the results, and made recommendations to the principal on how to make Extended Learning Opportunities work better. Finally, last December I took part in a course entitled 'How to be an exceptional Head of an MFL Department'. During this course I receive......half of the paper......sson, I lead the group of the students and make recommendations on who to hire. I also proposed the purchase of new resources; the head of the department followed my advice. I would be able to successfully lead the MFL department of your school good practice and I would put into practice all my knowledge gained over the last two years to raise standards further. For example, I would focus on improving GCSE results in French and creating more opportunities for pupils to work independently, as well as. on ensuring that the work is adapted to the students' abilities. To achieve this I would use the strategies described above. Furthermore, I could contribute positively to extracurricular learning by organizing a trip to Germany as I firmly believe that this is a unique learning experience for students. students.
