Napoleonic Artillery Throughout history there have been many leaders who influenced the strategies used on different battlefields. Arguably, one of the most influential leaders this world has ever seen is Napoleon Bonaparte. This young French gentleman began building his legacy at an early age, proving to the people of the world that he was a force to be reckoned with. Throughout his life he faced many battles and in each one he attacked with impressive military tactics that have been analyzed over time and proven to have shaped the way most of the world's militaries operate in their combat operations. Not only did his tactics influence him and earn him well-deserved victories, but they also paved the way for artillery to be a key asset in destroying and dominating the battlefield. At an early age Napoleon showed impressive leadership potential. While most children of his age did not analyze a child's game such as a snowball fight, Napoleon strategized and created certain tactics to achieve his then great victories. At the young age of ten Napoleon was sent to a military boarding school. It was there that he found an interest in learning about artillery and studying to become an officer. Horne stated that Napoleon was commissioned second lieutenant in 1785 at the age of sixteen. According to "The Napoleon Series" by Jenner Vigil, one of Napoleon's most iconic tactics that got him recognized was when the French were run over by the royalists. On 5 October 1795 Paris was under attack, by now Napoleon had control over all French field artillery. This was the first time that Napoleon displayed his impressive military tactics by placing heavy artillery pieces on rooftops and firing directly......at the center of the card......les effect which is in today's terms a "Right by Piece” .”In conclusion, from the beginning Napoleon Bonaparte showed an incredible amount of potential to accomplish great things in his lifetime and he did. His incredible determination was seen throughout his life, from his incredible achievements such as becoming a second lieutenant to leading artillery armies. The tactics used during his reign in power were so ingenious that they led to glorious victories in many of his battles. Not only did his tactics earn him his legacy of prestige, but they also played a vital role in the number of future battles that have taken place to this day. Throughout history you can see the incredible impact Napoleon had on future battlefields, describing many of his tactics to achieve the ultimate goal of victory.
