McClelland (1961, "The Achieving Society"), (4) Frederick Herzberg's motivation-hygiene approach (1959, “The Motivation to Work”), Developed approach to motivation by Victor Vroom (1964), and (6) The reinforcement approach developed by BF Skinner. The approaches of Maslow, McClelland and Herzberg focused on needs while the theories of Skinner and Vroom focused on outcomes. Equity theory proposes that people want to be treated fairly – equitably. Maslow proceeded with a theory of need prioritization where the individual's needs are evaluated in the following order; (1) psychological (breathing, food, water, sex, sleep, etc.), (2) security (3) love/belonging (friendship, family, sexual intimacy) (4) esteem (trust, fulfillment, respect for/from others) and (5) self-actualization factors (morality, creativity, spontaneity, problem solving, lack of prejudice, acceptance of facts). Maslow thought that individuals should move up the levels of the pyramid level by level breathing (psychological factors) will never be motivated to exist
