Julius Caesar is a Tragic Hero William Shakespeare's tragedy of Julius Caesar is a tale not entirely centered on Julius Caesar himself. But he is instead more focused on the conspirators who surrounded him. Julius Caesar is not willing to believe several warnings that could have saved his life, Julius Caesar ends up being assassinated after ignoring all the warnings, everyone has a different view of Julius Caesar. A tragic hero is a high-ranking character in society who has a flaw that leads to his downfall and must ultimately feel enlightened. Julius Caesar is a tragic hero. Julius Caesar is unwilling to believe several warnings that could have saved his life. Julius Caesar was warned several times by many different people, yet he did not take any of them to heart. The soothsayer shouts from the crowd to Caesar “Beware the Ides of March” (890). Caesar then dismisses the soothsayer, saying, “He is a dreamer, let us leave him. Passage (890). Another example of Caesar's reluctance to listen is when his wife is awakened by a horrible nightmare about her husband's death. Calpurnia tells Caesar “Caesar, I have never stood on ceremony, yet now they are fighting me. There is one inside, in addition to the things we have heard and seen, it tells the most horrible things seen by the watch. A lioness gave birth in the streets, and the graves opened wide, and gave up their dead; Fierce fiery warriors fought on the clouds in ranks and squadrons and just form of warfare, which rained blood on the Capitol” (924). Then a servant comes to tell Cesare what the greetings have to say and says to Cesare “They would have you not gone out today. Tearing out the entrails of an offering, they could not find a heart in the beast” (926). Then a... means of paper... a woman's wife had this terrible dream and told it to Decius: "Last night he dreamed of seeing my statue, which, like a fountain with a hundred jets, flowed pure blood, and many valiant Romans came smiling and wet their hands” (927). He did not want to listen to anything that made him seem weak. So, although I find Caesar honorable, I cannot sympathize with him. Julius Caesar is not willing to believe several warnings that they could have saved his life, Julius Caesar ends up being assassinated after ignoring all the warnings, everyone has a different view of Julius Caesar is a tragic hero He falls from great social position due to his own mistakes and realizes that in the end it was his fault. The only sad thing to say is that Julius Caesar is a tragic hero who had to die for his mistakes. Works Cited Elements of Literature Orlando: Holt, Winston, Rinehart, 2007
