The book Summary of the Chronicle of a Death Foretold begins with the narrator telling the reader about Santiago Narsar who is the main character of the story. Santiago lived with his mother, Placida Linero; their cook, Victoria Guzman; and his daughter, Divina Flor. Santiago's father died three years earlier. So the family was left in Santiago to be cared for and kept in good hands. One morning Santiago was going to meet the bishop who was arriving at the dock by boat to bless the marriage of Angela Vicario and Bayardo San Roman. But what Bayardo doesn't know is that his future wife is not a virgin and he has no intention of telling her. After a while though, she feels guilty about it and ends up telling him and he leaves her because of it and her mother isn't happy about it either once she finds out too. Then, once her twin brothers find out that their sister Angela isn't a virgin, they ask her who took it from her and she doesn't tell them who did it at first, but eventually gives in when they threaten her, so she tells them that Santiago Narsar took it. virginity, so they decided to kill him.
