For they cannot be treated like others in society. Tom Robinson was proven innocent due to the racism involved in the case. Atticus, Jem, and Scout believed in Tom's innocence because they believed everyone should be treated equally. The film represents how the justice system worked in the 1900s and the inability to provide a fair path for people of color
