Troublesome Youth Despite the many obstacles in my life, my experience in community service stands out as the most memorable. I was sixteen at the time and just starting my first job at a fast food restaurant. I had to learn to balance morning community service with work at the local Wendy's. It was very stressful and impactful at the same time. I did my community service at a local elementary school. I chose this place for its relative ease, and it was also an area I could easily get to and from. I started my first day very confused and out of character. The school was very bland and brought back memories of my time in primary school. When I first arrived I met the principal of the school. He was my superior and his first impression explained to me what he did. He was a fairly easy-going man and was direct. I have found these qualities to be true with many people I have met who are the same size as him. It was about the size of the students present. The irony of this anomaly was the vehicle he was driving, a lifted station wagon with massive tires and exemplified even further by the large round lights placed between the headlights. I regularly saw the principal's car and always thought, "How the hell does he get in there?" After meeting the principal, I was taken to meet my work colleagues. I met the head keeper first, named Jim. He was very tall and not very muscular. He was an amazingly friendly man and I could tell he was passionate about his work, but he was very socially reserved due to the people he was forced to communicate with on a daily basis. There were two other janitors who were followers of the head janitor. One was a short black man named Carl. He was originally from Kenya, his English was terrible but he was a very life-loving man. When he spoke sporadically, it was mostly just to tease his associated janitor. The associated janitor was a very charming person, his name was Rick. Everyone around me made fun of him, sometimes to his face and other times behind his back. This didn't really matter to him because he was mentally unstable.
