“The Great Father” published in 1835 by an unknown source based on a portrayal of Andrew Jackson in a light that was not amusing to the president at the time. In the cartoon illustration the painting image shows a woman with her foot on her face. This obviously means dominion over that person, his surrender and the superiority of the whole image. The next thing you notice is the stack of papers tied together on his desk and how organized everything is. In the organization you recognize roles and it's like a mission statement that tells people about the laws and what they represent. It shows that everything has its place and there is a place for everything in Jackson's world. The stack of paper symbolizes the enormous responsibility and stress Jackson is going through to get people to abide by his rules. The way Jackson's foot is pointed towards the Indians also means that they are the focus of interest in relation to the image.
