Schools must frequently update their codes of conduct to address cyberbullying circumstances that have led to lawsuits. A school can be held liable in court for something that happened to a student due to constant cyberbullying if the problem is not resolved through some type of discipline. Schools could be sued for ignoring signs of constant cyber harassment of a student who ultimately commits suicide due to the relentless attacks. A school's code of conduct needs to incorporate new methods on how to deal with cyberbullying situations for current and future measures. School districts did not interfere with conflicts occurring between students off campus until parents began blaming schools when the school failed to act to address the problems faced by their children. It appeared to parents that schools were allowing students to become prone to attacks when disciplinary actions were not taken to handle cyberbullying. All of the crime tables for each form of cyberharassment are examples of punishments that schools could use to reduce cyberbullying among students. The online article goes on to state that: “With 24-hour access to social media and the Internet, victims often feel like there is no escape. Cyberbullying (cyber harassment) is not an issue that should be considered a miniscule situation under any circumstances. Harassment may start with one person first and then everyone may join together and decrease the victim's desire to go to school. Schools must enforce codes of conduct within each district to reduce the number of cyberbullying cases that lead to tragedies such as suicides. Codes of conduct within school districts must be reviewed and detailed to thoroughly explain how each case of cyberbullying will be handled in accordance with the school.
