The twenty-first century is the era of continuous development of new and better automation. “Technology is so fun, but we can drown in our technology. The fog of information can chase away knowledge.” Those born in the 1990s and early 2000s are part of the generation that "grew up with technology". School work has shifted from writing with pencil and paper to typing on keyboards and monitors. Communication across the country started with writing letters that would take weeks to receive and has become as easy as sending a text message that the recipient will be able to receive in seconds. While some use technology for good, there are some hostile people in this society who abuse technology to do and cause harm to others. Cyberbullying is one of the leading global causes of suicide among adolescents. Over thirty percent of teens have been victims of cyber bullying in the form of receiving abusive messages, rumors spread online, and/or posts containing threatening messages on social networking sites. The Bible warned that one day technology would have a major impact, positive or negative, someday, that is, today. Depending on how technology is used in an individual's life, it can be very beneficial to them or the worst thing that ever happened to the twenty-first century. Every day, scientists invent new technological advances that help us, as "Average Joe" citizens, increase our knowledge. The Internet, using websites like Google and Bing, can teach children, teens, and even adults more than certified teachers ever could by simply typing a simple question into the search bar. The world as we know it is at our fingertips. “But you, Daniel, close the words and seal the book, until... the middle of the paper......the younger generation has grown up, it can also be a way - in case it is used correctly, for the benefit of us and those around us. President Gordon B. Hinckley, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, foretold his list of concerns for the future. He hypothesized that as church membership increased, missionary work and trying to reach people around the world would become progressively problematic. Technology is everything and it is extremely easy to access; missionaries, as well as average religious personnel, can spread the Gospel faster and more easily than ever before. Technology, when used in its most efficient form, can help society in a positive way. Using technology in the way the characters in these short stories and novels have done can and will cause harm to people and the environment around them.
