Private school and public school have been a very controversial topic as to which is best for a child. Both public and private schools have their advantages. Private school will ultimately prove to be the best school for most children for many reasons. Private school excels in many ways compared to public school. In the course of this reading there will be just a few of the thousands of reasons why parents choose private school over public school. Private and public schools are a very controversial topic. Private schools have more difficult curricula. Private schools can also make it where the graduation requirements are different for a private school compared to a public one. In private schools it is normally required to take at least 2 years of Spanish (Ralph, 3). In public schools they are required to get only 1-1.5. For your basic tuition in private school you must have 3.0-4.0 years of basic tuition. In public schools you are only required to take 2.5-3.5 years of your core classes (Ralph, 4). Private school is also much stricter about how classes are run and there are pass/fail methods when it comes to grading. Private schools also have a lower percentage of students than public schools. This allows teachers to have more time with their students, leaving more room for tutoring. The average student/teacher ratio at private schools is 13:1. In public schools the average Allen2 student/teacher ratio is 22:1. This shows that private schools have more teacher time available to tutor each student for a longer period of time. There is no debate about which system prevails over the other. Private school has a more rigorous curriculum, tougher graduation requirements, and a much better student-teacher ratio.
