Our world is getting to the point where we will be surrounded by rubbish. Risks occur due to excess garbage, which could have been recycled. Although the government is not doing its best to put an end to these risks, surprisingly it is non-governmental organizations that are trying to make a difference. There have been studies and proven facts about these issues, so people should take this into account and start recycling more. Recycling is a beneficial process that is not as globally required as it should be because citizens are not educated about the process and what it can do. People who don't recycle don't know the dangers they are causing everywhere. There is toxic lead in old batteries that is causing health problems for people in Taiwan who dispose of them (Gay, 12). Space is becoming a landfill due to excess spaceflight and radioactive supplies from nuclear reactors, which could reach our atmosphere and explode (Gay, 13). When companies run out of space to dump toxic waste, they turn to poor nations because they don't have strict safety regulations (Gay, 31). Landfills on Earth are not the only place where waste is thrown. The ocean is being ravaged with plastic bags, soda can containers, and large fishing nets, which harm dolphins, turtles, sea lions, and others (Gay, 69). Military bases in the United States contain more hazardous waste and are responsible for soil and water contamination (Gay, 83). There are other risks because we are throwing away so many things that companies are forced to remake all those products. Incinerators are places where waste is reduced to ash and if we recycle it it can disappear.
