An auto mechanic job involves working on automobiles, AKA, vehicles/autos. It is a very important job because; If we didn't have mechanics, many people's cars wouldn't run properly. Car mechanics can be boys or girls, and if they have the right qualifications, they can work on almost any type of vehicle. Some car mechanics; like my grandfather, he can work on many types of automobiles such as four-wheelers, cars, SUVs, trucks and sometimes large trucks. Repairing big rigs is not the job of an auto mechanic, it is often the job of a diesel mechanic, but some auto mechanics can and do do work on big rigs. Automotive mechanics of all types are very important in our society today. Body shops and repairers must repair and refinish automobiles and their chassis. One thing they do is review damage reports, prepare cost estimates and plan the work. Another thing they do is inspect cars for structural damage ("Auto Bodywork"). They are sometimes asked to test cars to identify any errors and defects in their construction and ensure that they drive correctly ("Automotive Servicing"). They also realign frames and frames to repair structural damage. Finally, they eliminate or repair dents, pits and other minor body damage ("Auto Bodywork"). Auto mechanics often work inside body shops which are usually very dusty and noisy. Shops should, and usually are, well ventilated to disperse dust and paint fumes. Sometimes they are placed in uncomfortable and cramped positions, and sometimes they are even sent to work long distances at a customer's home so they don't have to take the car to the mechanic. One downside to being a mechanic is that it has a higher risk of injury than most other jobs, making it a somewhat dangerous environment. Usually... middle of paper... as long as it's a safe work environment. An advantage would be that you can work on your car or your family's car and not have to pay someone to do it for you. If you're looking for an average pay level and a job that keeps you busy, this is the job for you. Works cited “Automotive Service Technician.” Encyclopedia of careers and professional orientation.
