It comes from seeing my brother grow up with the fear of not making it to tomorrow and seeing a nurse hold his hand and tell him that everything will be fine and that they will work day after day to face the difficulties of life. Nurses aren't just there to do a job; they are there to be so much more. When doctors see their patients, this lasts anywhere from a few minutes to perhaps an hour, depending on the context and situation. Who is really there all the time? They are the nurses. The nurse takes the time to learn everything about their patients, on a healthcare and personal level, and this is what makes a good nurse. I strive every single day to become a nurse and be that hand to hold and that smiling face that makes a patient feel at ease. Ultimately, I want to be the best I can be. I want to help those who can't always help themselves. Every morning I wake up with a commitment to push myself to learn more and become the best nurse I can be. It doesn't just stop once I finish school. Getting better and more committed to my work grows every day for the rest of my life. I honestly can't wait to see my future and what life brings for me as I continue my nursing profession
