Some of us around the world may have problems with reading, spelling and other academic aspects. You may not know why they can't read or write as well as you can because they have a disorder. This disorder is called dyslexia. People with dyslexia have difficulty with: listening, reading, writing, spelling and even handwriting. However, having dyslexia does not mean they are not intelligent. Some of the world's greatest minds have or have had dyslexia. One of the most fascinating reasons for dyslexia is the dominant ear. Even though they may be different doesn't mean they are stupid. (Hotz, Sollier) Dyslexia is a learning disorder linked to problems with reading, writing and spelling. (Britannica Company) One in five Americans suffers from this disorder. Difficulties may be in listening, writing, reading, spelling or handwriting. Students with this disorder may have difficulty with more than one academic. Furthermore, they have problems with understanding the language and this leads to poor academic performance. (Hotz, Me) This disorder does not only occur in children, but can also occur in adolescents and adults. Dyslexia in adults is more severe, because they had it as children, which means they could read a third grade book. (I, Hotz) Children struggle with dyslexia. They stumble or struggle with words. When reading, they may skip words they don't know or can't pronounce. Dyslexic children have different reading patterns than other children. (Hotz) There the reading models are slower than in others and they do not read as well as children read. Even children have trouble with spelling because they don't know which letters to match the sounds of words. Some... middle of paper... exotics however have dominant left ears that make it more difficult to read and understand information. Left ear dominants send information to the right side of the brain which is not the speech center, so information has to travel from the right side to the left side, which delays the information. Some people with dyslexia need to follow a program to help them read, learn and speak better, but through the program they will become right ear dominant. (Sollier, Me)Now you know more about dyslexia and for some of you you know what it is. Remember that if you know someone with dyslexia, they could become one of the greatest minds in the world. They may be slowly getting to know each other, but they will soon catch up and get the dominant ear right. The last thing to remember is to encourage them to help them do things because brilliant minds have brilliant ideas.
