International Harvester has built many good tractors over the years. Today I will talk about the Super M-TA. The Super M-TA was International Harvester's first tractor to have drive power and other easy-to-use features. Before I talk about the tractor, I'll tell you a little about the history of International Harvester. International Harvester began business as the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company in 1847, founded by Cyrus Hall McCormick and consolidated by his son Cyrus Hall McCormick Jr. in 1902. About Farmall and IH, Burlington. Consolidation of McCormick harvesting with Deering Harvester Company; Plano manufacturing company; Warder, Bushnell and Glessner Company; and the Milwaukee Harvester Company. This became known as the International Harvester Company. About Farmall and IH, Burlington The International Harvester Company began experimenting with tractors in 1905. International Harvester's first tractor was the Mogul 8-16. (About Farmall and IH) The International Harvester company then switched to the F series until 1938. In 1939 the International Harvester Company paid Raymond Loewy to remodel the F series. These tractors had more sheet metal, such as the hood and grille. These remodeled tractors became known as the Letter series. International Harvester produced the Letter Series until 1954. International also built the “Super” tractors from 1952 to 1954. (Farmall Letter Series) This brings me to the Super M-TA which was produced from 1953 to 1954. Between the two years International Harvester Once the Super M-TA was built they produced 26,924. The Super M-TA was International Harvester's first tractor to have live power. The live power made sure that when you pressed the tractor's clutch the PTO or PTO did not stop turning. (New McCormick...... half of the card......26,924 of the tractor is considered a collector's tractor. Another factor is that it was the last in the letter series along with the other “Supers”. The Super M-TA also, as my research has shown, made life much easier for farmers who owned one of these great tractors. Works Cited "About Farmall and International Harvester 1996-2010. Dunton Farms.
