People can start to worsen their QWL due to their constant frustration and low morale which will decrease their overall quality of life. I have had multiple experiences with idle workers and I won't be the first to say I hate it. They have an unfavorable effect on everything around it. It's so easy to single out a helpless worker and it makes you feel worse to see someone who doesn't contribute but still receives the same pay/benefits as hard working employees. Not surprisingly, this will cause dissatisfaction throughout the office as these employees have little to no work involvement. Productivity begins to decline due to lack of support and commitment from dead weight workers. I agree with Tom Agnew who says companies could do more to manage lazy workers. I have to say it's difficult but it's doable. Judging by statistics provided by his company, fewer workers think managers are doing enough to manage idle workers. This shows that things need to change in the workplace. I would like a company that pays based on the performance of its employees, not just a general salary equivalent to that of each worker. This will motivate these inert workers with extrinsic rewards and their productivity will definitely increase. We must prevent Constaza syndrome before it takes over our economy. I think it's doable, but it will take a lot of work on the part
