Introduction In recent years, many companies have noticed the importance of environmental responsibility beyond profit. Quazi et al. (2001) list some points that companies would tend to adopt an environmental management system such as concern for board management, cost savings, achieving international environmental objectives, meeting customer expectations, etc. Therefore, they would invest a portion of resources to manage and improve environmental performance with different methods. In the aviation industry, aircraft represent a significant source of greenhouse gases. Some findings point out that the aviation industry recently produces around 2% of global emissions. In a rapidly growing society, people tend to be wealthier and have more opportunities to travel, so greenhouse gas emissions from aviation would increase rapidly. The IPCC also predicted that global emissions could rise to 3% by 2050. In some countries, the government would help reduce gas emissions from aviation. For example, the British government allocates around five million pounds to develop technical strategies to reduce the environmental externalities of aviation (Chen, 2010).
