Coca Cola is a world-famous and very successful company. The success of this company is due to the structure and management of how it was run. “In 1886, John Permberton, an Atlanta pharmacist and Civil War veteran with a passion for preparing home cures for headaches, brewed the first batch of Coca-Cola.” When Coca-Cola began to become popular, a businessman named As a Candler purchased the drink from Pemberton and set Coca-Cola on the road to success. Candler had the resources to start the Coca-Cola Empire, and through management functions as a foundation, it achieved success and has remained one of the largest companies in the world. The four management functions include: planning, managing, leading, and controlling. Internal factors influenced the PLOC in many different ways. Everything internal and external to this company is about planning, organizing, leading and controlling, as it is the foundation of any management team. Coca-Cola started small in Atlanta, once a Candler founded the Coca-Cola company, "he began an active and innovative marketing campaign that spurred the widespread distribution of Coca-Cola in the United States." Once this was done, he had to strategically plan how to bottle his soft drink and prepare it for shipping. Once the product was bottled, he had to plan the distribution of the product. "In 1899 the Coca-Cola company first signed a bottling contract. As a Candler did not believe the bottling would be successful and sold the bottling rights to Benjamin Thomas and Joseph Whitehead."
