Indigenous Culture and How It Evolved IntroductionNative American CultureCulture is a set of beliefs and patterns of behavior shared by members of a specific group. These values can be reinforced or expressed through stories, songs, art and rituals. A language is an important tool for preserving culture. Many groups of people have their own cultural practices that are an integral part of their lives. However, Native Americans have a richer and more diverse culture. They have a history full of triumphs, conflicts and struggles. Many familiar symbols that are sometimes taken for granted were created by Native Americans. Many aspects of our lives today have been adopted from Indian cultures practiced many centuries ago. Something about their lives, from animals to native plants to climate and housing, mattered a lot in Indian life. To start with the plants, these were grown, harvested and used for various blanket dyeing projects. Animals, on the other hand, were venerated as spirits even though they could be hunted and killed. Their skins were used as drums and dressed the spirits of these animals in the minds of people. The sun and rain also served an important purpose as they were considered Gods who showed signs of change. As they tried to harmonize with the world around them, they in a certain sense influenced it. American culture still shows itself to be part of Native American culture. The United States is sometimes called a "melting pot" in which particular cultures have contributed their diverse cultures to American culture. Just as other cultures around the world have influenced American culture, American culture is currently influencing the world as well. The commonly used term Western culture always refers to American culture. American culture involves the traditions and customs of the United States. Culture includes food, what we wear, religion, our language, music, marriage, what we believe is right or wrong, how we greet visitors, and how we sit at the table. Furthermore, it includes how we treat our loved ones and how we treat the elderly. American culture is nothing but an example of how culture has evolved since ancient times
