Topic > Stokers Siding Community Hall Review - 912

Our project was for Stokers Siding Community Hall, also known as Stokers Siding/Dudible Hall throughout its 100 year history. The aim was to compile the social narrative, analyze how the villagers of Stokers Siding think about this hall and find out how the hall fits into the community's strategic plan. Our group wants to create a timeline for the Stokers Siding community hall, including when it was built, its different turning points, the activities that took place there and how the villagers think about it. Numerous materials were used for this project, including books on Stokers Siding, online articles, archive photos, recently captured photos and videos, and personal interviews. The materials were combined into a digital timeline full of on-site multimedia content. Each team member helped each other in gathering materials, communicating with board members, and drafting a detailed project outline. However, overall, I found myself focusing more on the hall's role within the community. Built in 1912, the community hall had been a place where all residents could celebrate many joyous occasions, including games, parties, weddings, dances, music, games and meetings. also silent cinema starting from the beginning of the last century (Langridge, 1988). Except for a brief period in the 1960s, when it was less used due to repairs, the hall remained a social place for the community. It was not only a place of entertainment and recreation, but also a place where villagers could socialize with each other. People brought food, cooked together and had afternoon tea together. It was a place for community bonding in “true country style” (Harwood at Langridge, 1988). Nowadays, the hall is still a social hub in Stokers Siding with a range of events... middle of paper... ....strengthening community bonding in organizing events. It should listen to the villagers' desire and preference to tailor activities to meet the needs of the people of Stokers Siding. Activities can be carried out anywhere in the village, but if the committee focuses on carrying out activities exclusively in the hall, it can make the hall an important allied social center for all residents. In conclusion, by gathering all the materials to create a social narrative of the Stokers Siding community hall, we discovered that for more than one hundred years the hall has served as a place of leisure, entertainment and socialization for residents. To further strengthen the bond with the community, it was proposed to renovate the hall and organize more activities for residents there, so that the hall can continue to resonate for the happiness of life in Stokers Siding..
