Collective bargaining is the process in which employers and unions undergo a series of negotiations that include collective bargaining terms in which both parties agree on working conditions. These conditions can include wages, hours, and working conditions (Budd 229). Collective bargaining can take place in different types of fields, from politics to sports. It allows for proper resolution of disputes and issues to the benefit of both parties involved, producing an outcome that is not one-sided. Collective bargaining is “the negotiation of wages and other working conditions by an organized body of employees” (Beal, Wickersham, and Kienast 5). Four issues that are likely components of a collective bargaining agreement are:1. Ancillary benefits to salary, wages, holidays, holidays, shift bonuses and also profit sharing.2. Personnel policies and procedures: transfer policies, promotions, dismissals, vacation and overtime rules.3. Employee duties and rights: labor standards, workplace rules and seniority rights4. TheCTMirror.org discussed the House's approval of a controversial proposal that would give collective bargaining rights to home health aides and day care workers who provide services to adults and children on state aid wages.
