Physical abuse is intentional and unwanted touching by a person. Examples of physical abuse may include pushing or pinching, pulling hair, preventing a person from receiving medical care, or threatening to use a weapon (physical). Subcategories of physical abuse can be sexual abuse and stalking. Sexual abuse can range from unwanted kissing to rape. Physical abuse doesn't just affect adults. It happens in children too. One in fourteen children has suffered or is subjected to physical abuse today (Facts). The McCreary Adolescent Survey found that boys and girls between the ages of seven and twelve often experience physical or sexual abuse. In this survey, the average number of boys and girls experiencing abuse is approximately 35% of girls and 16% of boys. From the same survey, the highest rate of female sexual abuse was 20%.
