Men and women from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, China and Thailand are subjected to forced labor or prostitution upon arrival in Brunei. They migrate, obviously, in the hope of finding domestic or other low-skilled labor. There are over 88,000 migrant workers in Brunei. Some of these workers face debt bondage, non-payment of wages, passport confiscation, home confinement and contract changes; all factors that can be interpreted as trafficking. It was reported that around 25,000 domestic workers in Brunei worked long hours without rest. This creates an environment of involuntary servitude. Brunei is known to be a transit point for human trafficking including Malaysia
