The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. The United States has traditionally been called a "melting pot" that welcomes people from many different countries, races, and religions, all hoping to find freedom, new opportunities, and a better way of life. Just as cultures around the world have influenced American culture, today American culture influences the world. People immigrate to the United States for many reasons, such as some people fleeing governments that do not govern in the best interests of their people or treat different groups poorly due to ethnicity, religion, or political opinion. One of the main reasons my family and I immigrated to this country was to have better educational opportunities. I am currently a senior here at VCU pursuing my degree in Health Sciences.
