From the early 17th century, when England first established its permanent colonies in North America, there were substantial differences with other colonies whose economy was primarily devoted to manufacturing of crops and crops plus various frugality of the colonial rules of the north. After the French and Indian War, relations between the English and other colonies began to show signs of strain. Until then, England's preoccupation with civic skirmishes and the ongoing war with France had allowed the colonies to carry on foreign and domestic trade with minimal intrusion from the British powers.
