IntroductionAmerican International Group, Incorporation, is today the leading international insurance company. AIG is a publicly traded company and currently operates in more than 130 countries. The company didn't start out as big as it is today. It was founded by a young American named Cornelius Vander Starr in 1919 in Shanghai under the name American International Underwriters (AIG, 2013). In the years since, AIU has experienced a series of acquisitions and mergers. In the late 1960s, AIG was incorporated as a public company as AIG became a major commercial and casualty insurer; in 1990-1999 AIG returned to its roots in China when it received the first foreign insurance license in 40 years from the Chinese government (AIG, 2013). At this point AIG became a well-known insurance group in the world. Due to executive and management failures and failure to predict and underestimate the risk associated with CDS on credit default swaps, AIG entered a financial crisis in 2008 (AIG, 2013). It was then that the US government provided support to AIG and prevented it from going out of business. Since insurance didn't cause the AIG crisis, the crisis was due to CDs. Therefore it was easy for the company to be reborn thanks to its main business sector, which is insurance. After recovering from the crisis, AIG was able to repay the assistance it received from the US government (AIG, 2013). Thanks to this there is no doubt that AIG has rebuilt its reputation and position in the national and international market. Services AIG is considered a service industry company. The company offers a wide range of insurance services for individuals and businesses. For corporates, AIG's attempt... half the paper... major Indian insurance companies. AIG References.
