Every person has a different idea of what it means to be successful. After talking to my family and some friends, I know I have different strengths and weaknesses. I know I will face some opportunities and threats. Plus, I know I'll have competitors. In this competitive business world, understanding what is truly valuable to me is an important step towards achieving my goal. My strengths are languages, technology skills, education, work ethic and ability to follow directions. My weaknesses are communication skills, lack of American culture and work experience. Increasing job demand, globalization and the expansion of the accounting role are three major opportunities in the accounting field. Information technology, recession uncertainty, and starting salary are the top 3 threats to my financial success. I will be taking on all the major accounting competitors in the Midwest. My goal is the final destination of my financial success. It's being able to pay bills without worry, being debt free, having enough money for my children to go to college, and helping other people with my financial resources. As a KU graduate student, I will be competing with all the accounting graduate students from the Midwest for the next 20 to 30 years. KU business school has the best reputation in the Midwest, so I have a better educational advantage than my competitors. In this case, I can easily get a promotion. Compared to my competitors, my strengths are languages, technology skills, education, work ethic and ability to follow directions. The first strength I am aware of is that I speak three different languages. Furthermore, I have reasonable technological skills. I have a great educational background from KU.
