Jesus is more than a prophet, an amazing teacher and a godly man. Jesus is the Son of God. The Jesus I know is nothing short of amazing. It is extraordinary in the Bible just as it is extraordinary in my life. My Jesus changes people's lives in ways I can only imagine. We can read countless times in the Bible where Jesus distinguished himself in ways that were not so pleasing to the people around Him. Today as yesterday people do not know how to take it. He turned water into wine. It ignores any kind of social and racial gender. He is the way, the truth and the life. And He is precisely the reason why I can have something much greater than I deserve. No matter how many scars others around me may see from the wounds I have suffered and continue to suffer, my God is an AWESOME God and without Him in my life, I'm not sure how I could function. In fact, I'm not entirely sure how I functioned before He saved me from myself. Jesus' suffering and death on the cross redeem the sins of the entire world, both original and current. There is no other reason for salvation from sin than this alone. This atonement is sufficient for every individual of our race and is how He enables salvation from sin. Hebrews 9:22-23 says: For the law requires that almost everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. It was therefore necessary that the copies of the celestial things should be purified with these sacrifices, but the celestial things themselves with better sacrifices than these. The sacraments of the Old Testament were never part of God's ultimate plan. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. (Hebrews 10:4) Hebrews tells us once and for all, at the height of time, to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. The Roman crucifixion is one of the most painful deaths imaginable.
