Let's take the heat on the legalization of marijuana at the federal level, as we take a look at some of the main reasons why weed needs to become legal. Marijuana is clearly different from cigarettes and alcohol, which are extremely toxic and fatal to the human body and those around it. Marijuana is not a drug that has side effects that last as long as cigarettes or alcohol. Unlike alcohol and cigarettes, it is argued that it is probably the safest drug in the world, unlike how the federal government controls it. We also have various arguments from the medical point of view and how they claim it can be beneficial for various individuals. Then there is another argument that brings up the fact that as marijuana continues to be illegal we will see an increase in criminal activity not only from the United States but also from international borders. We must realize that legalizing marijuana would be a huge step in creating a sense of income in the United States without the problems that alcohol and cigarettes bring. Marijuana can ruin people's lives by creating criminal records for those who simply choose to possess it and smoke marijuana. Why would the government continue to inflict harm on a drug that has virtually no reason to be banned? Children are also affected by the legal battle to legalize marijuana, with some states legalizing it at the state level, we still see that it is only legal over the age of 18.
